ein Lichtlein brennt.
“Advent, Advent, ein Lichtlein brennt” is the beginning of an Austrian Advent poem. With this poem in my mind, I created a tea candle packaging for the contemplative pre-Christmas period. The packaging is rather simple since it is made out of just one piece of paper and one adhesion. To lean on the traditional concept of a four-candle Advent wreath, I perforated each side of the packaging with the numbers 1 to 4. Each Sunday during the Advent season, one can pull down one of these windows and see the cut out pattern behind. If you leave one lighted tea candle in the packaging every Sunday one additional side will be illuminated. On the last Advent Sunday, all four sides will glow like the four candles on a common Advent wreath. After Christmas one can still use it as a normal lantern. The package band shows an instruction about how to use it, protects the content from manipulation and furthermore makes it stackable.
